As a cyclist and triathlete I know that sports massage is absolutely essential to any serious sports person’s routine and training program. Apart from feeling great, benefits may include:

  • Preventing injury by showing up early signs of problem areas
  • Speeding up injury repair and being a vital part of rehabilitation
  • Improving performance by realigning the muscle fibers
  • Increasing flexibility
  • Decreasing muscle cramps
  • Preparing and warming the muscles for activity pre-event or training
  • Relaxing the muscles post-event
  • Symptomatic relief of DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness)
  • Speeding up recovery times during
  • Assisting in mental preparation

Don’t Wait To Be Injured

Although sports massage is used to relieve symptoms during acute, post-acute and chronic injury stages and may speed up recovery and help with rehabilitation, don’t wait until you’re injured before you get one.

This type of treatment should be part of any active or sporty person’s training or fitness program. As a person who suffers with tight hamstrings, regular sports massage, alongside a targeted stretching and rehabilitation routine, has kept me training and largely injury free.

Sports massage is something that I am really passionate about and I pride myself on keeping up-to-date with the latest therapeutic methods in this area. This is with the aim that you stay as injury-free as possible and I will support you in swift recovery if you do become injured. As a sports massage therapist, I am highly trained in traditional sports massage techniques, and may also incorporate other techniques such as hot or cold stones, medical acupuncture and myofascial release techniques into your treatment. I strive to deliver what works best for you.

At the end of the treatment, appropriate rehabilitation exercises will be suggested to aid your recovery further and improve your sports performance.
